Books & Jackets
A different approach is required for book design, no less creative than magazine design but more considered and certainly calmer! Whereas a magazine or a brochure can have a rapid turn around a book can take a year to produce, and requires patience and attention to detail - both good disciplines to have. SCW's book design has included: The Family Doctor for Dorling Kindersley, Churchill's Navy for Anova books and The Hornby Book of Model Railway for Navigator Guides.
We have a great deal of fun with book jacket design, they punctuate our working day well throwing creative titles into the mix to consider, such as "South Park & Philosophy". On this particular project we helped our client by avoiding the need to seek permission to use the actual South Park characters by illustrating famous philosophers from history in the South Park style. This title and others have had our client jumping out of her chair, great fun!
